The involvement of BFL Owen principals in the engineering and construction of numerous post-tensioned segmental box girder bridges, both precast and cast-in-place, has provided BFL Owen with a thorough knowledge of detailing and site requirements for large multistrand projects with complex cross-sectional geometries.
BFL Owen, takes pride in its efforts to provide the latest, most advanced engineering tools for the analysis and detailed design of concrete bridges, including software for post-tensioned box girders, cantilevered segmental construction, and camber computations during and after construction.
BFL Owen & Associates principal staff have designed numerous new bridges in accordance to policies and procedures of the FHWA and California Department of Transportation (CALTRANS), and other agencies throughout the United States.
Our experience in retrofit design is also extensive. Our work has involved all types of bridges, including concrete, prestressed concrete, steel girder, and steel truss. The retrofit techniques that were employed ranged from superstructure hinge retrofit to base isolation.
To complement BFL Owen bridge design activities, the company also offers services for the design, fabrication and operation of structural steel launching/lifting gantries and form travelers for precast and cast-in-place segmental box girder bridges.
